‘Unbelievable good price’: KC-area pharmacy dispenses bargain medicine — and hope

Pharmacy of Grace was recently featured on the front page of The Kansas City Star, and we’re still buzzing with pride. The article, penned by Lisa Gutierrez, beautifully captures the heart and mission behind our work here in Kansas City, Kansas.

For those who may have missed it, the piece, titled “‘Unbelievable good price’: KC-area pharmacy dispenses bargain medicine — and hope,” shines a light on

the critical need for affordable medication access in our community and how Pharmacy of Grace is stepping up to meet that challenge.

The article eloquently tells the story of Ruby, a hardworking individual whose struggle to afford essential diabetes medication perfectly illustrates why Pharmacy of Grace was founded. Inspired by the staggering statistics around unfilled prescriptions and medication non-adherence due to cost – a nationwide issue where up to 30% of prescriptions aren’t filled and 50% aren’t taken correctly – our founder, Jo

hn Yost, envisioned a different kind of pharmacy.

Located in Wyandotte County, where the uninsured rate is significantly higher than the national average, Pharmacy of Grace is committed to providing low-cost medications and vital education to those who need it most. As the article highlights, we’ve already served hundreds of patients, many living well below the poverty line, and have made a tangible difference in their lives by offering medications at prices that truly offer hope. One powerful example shared was a patient receiving $2,000 worth of insulin for just $20!

What makes Pharmacy of Grace unique, as the KC Star so thoughtfully pointed out, is our commitment to personalized care. We take the time to consult with each patient, ensuring they understand their medications, how to take them, and the importance of adherence. With access to in

terpreters for numerous languages, we’re breaking down barriers and building trust within our diverse community.

We’re so thankful to The Kansas City Star for helping us share our story and raise awareness about the crucial need for accessible healthcare in our community. This feature will undoubtedly help us reach more individuals who can benefit from our services.

We remain dedicated to our mission of providing affordable medications and compassionate care to our neighbors. Thank you to our incredible team, our generous supporters, and every patient who inspires us daily.
