PoG on KCUR’s Up To Date

8/15/22  – KCUR’s Up To Date

Pharmacy of Grace provides affordable prescriptions to the uninsured and underinsured

Pharmacy of Grace was on Up To Date with KCUR, where founder John Yost and board treasurer Liz Sutherlin shared how the nonprofit is addressing a critical barrier to health: the high cost of prescription medications.

As Wyandotte County’s only standalone pharmacy focused on serving uninsured and underinsured patients, Pharmacy of Grace is more than just a dispensary. It’s a mission-driven effort to provide not only affordable medications but also personalized counseling to help patients understand how, when, and why to take their prescriptions.

Yost and Sutherlin emphasized the urgent need for accessible medication in a community where too many people are forced to choose between their health and their budget. By pairing low-cost prescriptions with one-on-one education, Pharmacy of Grace is building a model of care that prioritizes both affordability and understanding—two things every patient deserves.

8/8/22 The Pitch Features Pharmacy of Grace Grand Opening.

This article highlights Pharmacy of Grace grand opening as a major step toward improving healthcare access in Kansas City.  Pharmacy of Grace is set to open its doors as the city’s first stand-alone pharmacy dedicated to serving uninsured and underinsured patients long-term. The grand opening, scheduled for 11 a.m. on August 16, marks the beginning of a new chapter in community healthcare.

Founder and board member John Yost emphasizes the importance of accessibility in healthcare, particularly for non-English speakers. “Imagine how confusing it must be to walk into a pharmacy if you can’t speak or read English,” Yost said. “We know that for many of our clients, English is not their first language, so they struggle to understand the how and why to take their medications fully.”
